| Hi guys, Hope everyone had a good holiday. I'm about to post some ideas about doing a conference this year on the blog, and am just creating a spot here on the boards to collect comments and swap ideas. And "conference" sounds way too formal. "Workshop" seemed to fit last year, only because we did it in an old warehouse. Maybe we need a new name. Or slogan. Like, "Invasion of the Proletariat." Ideas? Anyways, more in a second on the blog. | Great idea, Cale! I think we'll draw a good crowd for this. I'll throw some ideas out as they come, but one thing I'm interested in getting us all more involved in and discussing is the possibility of forming some subadvisory relationships with other RIAs (with us being the subadvisors, of course). My track record isn't long enough yet, but I think it's an area with tremendous potential for the spoke fund structure. As we continue to get more Spoke Fund managers, it would benefit all of us. Better for other financial planning-type RIAs to put their clients into portfolios managed by us than some mutual fund. | ||

| I think the subadvisor discussion is a great idea. Also, any experiences with Folio's Model Manager Exchange would be interesting. I've got some definite thoughts on engaging with financial planners. | ||

I would definitely make every effort to attend. Not sure about the proletariat though - this sounds more like the bourgeoisie convention If the conference is to include primarily current and aspiring RIAs, perhaps you could consider focusing on creating an RIA, including deciding to do so, and steps from Series 65 to choosing the legal structure (LLC, LLP, etc) and establishing the RIA and keeping it compliant. Then one may touch upon choosing a broker, recruiting customers, whether or not to maintain a blog, some art of writing quarterly reports etc. And yes, I'd like to catch a Tarpon! |

| Hi Mike, More on all this as soon as possible. Have actual numbers now for the costs of doing this conference at the Marco Marriott on Sept 12th and 13th, and I am trying to make them work. More on the blog by the end of this week. Sorry. Need more coffee... |
